Group 3
11-13-18 Today our group worked on the set up of our experiment and what we hope to learn from the data we collect at the Psych Fair. We a curious to test the brain's ability to adjust and adapt to visual changes, and how this will ultimately effect a subjects physical coordination. By having students wear perception distortion goggles while performing tasks such as following a line and shooting a basketball, we will measure how far from normal the students abilities are and if their brain is able to adjust to the visual change. We are currently researching other studies that have to do with the testing of visual perception. We are also finalizing the exact procedure of the experiment in order to ensure that we get sound data.
11-14-18 Today our group worked on finalizing the research on our topic, as well as identifying our variables for the experiment. We hope to find out more about brain plasticity and adaptation through our experiment at the psych fair!
11-15-18 Today we worked on developing the procedure for our project. We also decided what materials we need for our experiment.
11-16-18 Today we continued to work on the procedure for our experiment and what sort of test subjects we are looking for.
11-19-18 Today we organized what were are putting on our poster including background research, hypothesis, and intriguing visuals to attract students to our booth.
11-20-18 Today we wrote out all that we are including on our presentation board. We also talked about how we plan to make our board interesting and draw students to it using visual and interactive questions.
11-26-18 We put together our presentation. We included all the parts of our experiment such as our research question, hypothesis, procedure, and background research. We also included why research like this is important.
11-27-18 Parent night was a good way to test out our experiment before releasing it to the entire school population. Parents were interested in how the experiment worked and why it is important to understand. I also noticed that dads were more interested in trying our experiment; maybe that had something to do with the basketball theme of it. After parent night, we decided to limit the amount of tries with the goggles because some people were not able to make the basket and this took up a lot of time. By limiting the amount of tries with the goggles to three, we are able to test more subjects and collect more data.
11-28-18 The psych fair was a success. However, we believe that the amount of space we had was an issue. It was very tight upstairs, especially in our area. When there were a lot of people, it was difficult to conduct our experiment without disrupting traffic. Overall, students seemed interesting in our experiment and excited to try it. Many students came to our table with their friends and almost made a competition out of it, making the day more fun. We believe that we got a lot of good data for our research question and we are happy with the way everything turned out.
