Group 46








Day 1

 My groups' experiment is seeing if there is any direct correlation between the personality and traits of individuals that see 1 image first in a figure ground illusion. On our first day we did all of our student handout sheets. These sheets had our division of labor, hypothesis, study research, and experimental designs on them.

Day 2
My group worked on our project outline and went through the different research papers we found on our topic so we could get an idea of what to do with our experiment.

Day 3
My group finished all our student handouts and started discussing what questions we are going to ask people on our survey. We then decided on 10 questions we are going to ask people such as age, gender, and favorite type of music.

Day 4
We started figuring out what we are going to write up on our poster and what images we are going to use. We started to brainstorm a summary of our experiment to put on our poster and making our survey form.

Day 5 
We typed up and printed out everything that is going on our poster and planned out how we are going to design our poster.

Day 6
We finished putting our poster together and decorating it, all we have left to do is transfer our survey questions into a Google form.

Day 7
The day of Psych Fair. We transferred our survey into a google form with 10 personality questions and 4 picture questions. We also made a QR code for our survey so people could take it from their phones. The day went very smoothly for us and we were able to get 406 people to take our survey so we think that giving them the option to do it on their phones was very helpful. Now we are just comparing the data from the 10 personality questions to the 4 photo questions to see if there is any correlation between the 2.

11/12/18 Today in class, we worked on fully understanding our experiment & figuring out how we will run it. In summary, our experiment tests whether or not personal preference affects choices one makes. We are planning on testing that using M&M's. We are going to have each person pick as many M&M's as they can in a certain amount of time, & then we are going to ask their favorite M&M color. After counting how many of that color was picked, we will be able to see if their favorite M&M color had an impact on which M&M's they choose, & then will be able to tell if preferences bias our choices. 11/13/18 Today, we worked on our student handouts - picking a hypothesis, & beginning our research. The Battle of Creativity

Day 1- Our experiment is the "candle problem". We've been assigning roles and completing our write ups. This experiment tests functional fixedness, which is a cognitive bias that limits a person to use object only in the way it's traditionally used. Day 2- We've decided that this experiment should be an individual experiment. We want the volunteer to use their creativity without influence from an audience. Participants will be chosen randomly for our experiment. We are also evaluating which gender is more creative. Day 3- Our group has figured out our dependent, independent, and constant variables. The dependent variable is if functional fixedness is present while solving the puzzle. The independent variable is the gender of the participant.
