Group 41
11/12/18:
Today we filled out worksheets on canvas about what each group member will be doing, what we are looking to learn, and how we will construct things. We also looked up past experiments and saw their results, this will better help us create a successful experiment to be tested.
11/13/18:
Today in class we finished working on the canvas handouts from yesterday. We had to finish up handout 13, and we researched more similar experiments to help us finish the handout. Overall, it was a very productive morning.
11/14/18:
In class today we filled out our worksheets that are due Friday and decided what kind of materials we are gonna need for our experiment.
11/15/18:
Me and my group finished up the 18th worksheet, which is due tomorrow, and we talked more about our experiment and what else we will need for it.
11/16/18:
Today me and my group picked out what colors we were gonna use in our experiment and how many materials we thought we may need. We also turned in all our worksheets that were due today.
11/19/18:
We finalized many parts of our experiment today. We created a google form containing questions such as age, gender, and flavor guesses for each cup.
11/20/18:
Today in class we finished any worksheets that were left and then we discussed who would finish our poster board.
11/21/18:
We decided that Cynthia would bring our poster board to class, but she was absent because she left for vacation. We made sure we were all on the same page of who was getting each of the materials, and ran through how our experiment would work.
11/27/18:
Pat finished our poster board and we just prepared and discussed for parent night which would be later on. At parent night we went through our experiment and quickly noticed what adjustments we would need to make for our experiment. We decided that we should only fill our cups with a very small amount of liquid, and that we also need to make our colors very vibrant, so people could tell the difference between the orange dyed pop and the red one. We noticed that night that kids more easily fell for the trick and parents figured it out towards the end of the experiment.
11/28/18:
Today was the day of the psych fair. It ran pretty smoothly, until 12 pm, when we realized we were out of cups. This was shocking because we had bought over 100. Our group member Katie also made the coloring of the sodas essay for us by taking 2 Liters of sprite and dying each one of them a different color before hand. This way kids wouldn't see us dying the soda there. We also would fill them in secret behind our poster board. Around 1, we had a parent drop off more cups and we were back in business. We kept a steady stream of participants for the rest of the day. We had about 81 participants in total. Overall our experiment ran very smoothly, but many people guessed our experiment and the color didn't trick their taste.
