Group 31
Group's Folder
11/12/18
The first workday for the project I began to compile each Student Handout into one shared folder for my group mates and I. Recently, I have been working on completing these assignments by researching experiments related to our experiment. I have found many helpful and intriguing articles by credible sources.
11/13/18
The second workday for the project I read the articles gathered by my groupmates and worked on the summary for our experiment research. Today was the day we ultimately decided on how the procedure at the Psych Fair would go. In simple terms, we would test to see if the music in movies has any more effect on the audience than without it. We would give them a rating scale from 0-5 and ask them how they felt. 0 being sad and 5 being mad, with 3 being an in between such as a neutral or happy state. Basically, the people being experimented on would have to watch a movie with or without sound.
11/14/18
The third workday for the project the experimenters compiled each of the new worksheets into the previously created collaborative folder. The experimenters also began to think about the resources required for the live experiment. They have decided that it would be necessary for over ear headphones to be used for deeper immersion for the participants. So, the experiment is as follows: 1. The experimenters randomly select a control group and an experimental group. 2. The coordinators then show the control group a movie clip without sound while they show an experimental group the same clip with sound. 3. Their reactions are surveyed to discover how much of an impact sound has in films.
11/15/18
The third workday for the project the experimenters began working on a survey for the participants to complete for the data to be collected. It will be a simple survey on what day they participated, their emotion scale, and whether or not they had audio.
11/16/18 and 11/19/18
The experimenters experienced a productivity drought and split up the work meant for one day into two days. The experimenters began developing ideas for their tri-fold poster and booth activities. A precaution to future experimenters, be sure to have good communication with group mates, as miscommunication can lead to financial waste. For example, the mishap of purchasing posters that were not trifold twice.
11/20/18
In order to save paper, the experimenters created a Google Survey for the participants to fill out after they undergo experimentations. Today, the experimenters also began to plan out potential booth locations, perhaps with electrical outlets for chromebook charging.
11/27/18
The experimenters began work on a booth poster to attract and inform participants, and also created a script or direction guideline for them to follow to maintain consistent results.
11/28/18
The Experimentation Day was very successful. We met our research goal and have a decent sample size. We kept our procedure consistent, and participants were easy to teach how to use the chrome books. We showed the participants two movie clips one with and without sound. The experimenters’ booth was upstairs and it is more claustrophobic, which could have led to rushed responses and unfocused participants.

What is your experiment? Please explain.
