It's Hammer Time !!!!

Day 1 -  My group has the project of "The Rubber Arm". It is best described as having a participant place their arm on a table and cover their arm up, then put a rubber arm in place of their opposite arm. My group will then brush both their real arm and rubber arm simultaneously; then we will smack the rubber arm with a hammer. It will lead the participant to believe that there is a sensation of pain in their real arm that wasn't even hit. We also have been working on SH 11,12,13,14 and 15. Friday we decided that certain people in my group were going to clean up, set up, make the poster, create a hypothesis and describe the variables of this experiment. I am currently working on SH 13... I am researching about videos that have to do with a rubber arm and I am writing down the participants, the questions the experiment answers, a description of the experiment and citing it in APA format.

Day 2 - Today my group worked together on SH 16. Last night we were very proactive and finished all of 11,12,13,14, and 15 in class and for homework. So today we talked about the experiment, weather people can watch, age groups, privacy, time length, control groups, trials, circumstances and step by step process. Then we also filled out SH 17 which is basically signing off on our group number, what experiment we are doing and checking off true/false project ideas.

Day 3- Today my group worked on crafting together a list of materials needed for this experiment. We made sure to mention the rubber hand needed, paint brushes, hammer, cardboard, chargers for our laptops and things such as tables and chairs. Then we worked on giving our experiment a title... we decided on "It's Hammer Time!". And we also made the final touches to our thesis. The last thing we did was submit a rough draft giving the description, hypothesis and source list for our experiment.

Day 4- Today my group just worked on the rough draft. We went in depth to talk about the hypotheses and what it provides and shows, then we wrote down an in depth description of our experiment and made sure to state all of the sources in which we got this information from.

Day 5- On day 5 my group and I just watched a video about statistics in psychology and had a class discussion over the video to make sure that we all understood and watched the video.

Day 6- Today my group focused on the poster board... we started to decorate it and place the hypothesis on there, the description and mainly made it cute and colorful today along with being organizational. We have no surveys so we didn't need to make those. But we did start to create and organize how we are going to set up our booth such as the rubber hand, cardboard box, the seating placement and how we will display our project to make people want to come.

Day 7- On day 7 during the whole period my group and I focused on decorating our poster board. We want our board to draw the most attention to have more participants in our study so we made sure to add glitter to catch peoples eyes, bright colors, pictures, and overall have  a huge colorful poster board. We also started typing the necessary responses needed on the poster board such as; our hypothesis, the answer to our study and an explanation of our study.

Day 8 - On day 8 my group continued to work on the poster board. Only we focused more on the writing part. We typed up key points from our essay, the steps in the experiment, the explanation of our experiment and the questions and answers the experiment is asking.

Day 9 - On day 9 my group just fixed up the messiness of my poster. We made sure the glue was not smeared, put some puffy paint to decorate our poster and we also printed cute and attention grabbing pictures to put on our poster.

Day 10 - On day 10 my group and I organized everything. We made sure our poster was all set up, brought candy to catch peoples attention along with a bowl to put it in, we made sure to have the rubber hand ready to go, made sure our cardboard box was all put together and worked and we assigned jobs for the day of the fair. Evy and I switched turns recording the answers and smashing the hammer and Rachel and Lauren took turns painting the hands.
