11-12-18

Day 5-
Today our group filled out the documents on canvas together (documents 11-15).  We also strategized the different ways we can put together our experiment. Our group chose to put together an eyewitness experiment. This is being done by putting a Google slide together where it shows you who committed the crime on the first slide and then takes you through the crime with vivid detail and the last slide will have 4 or five options to pick from to see if you remember who committed the crime.

Day 6-
Today we finished up the 11-15 documents and starting the 16-18 documents. We also were working out some of the components we did not agree on or could not think of for our project. We are really excited to put this all together and gather our data!

Day 7-
Today we all worked on the rough draft of our APA style report of our experiment. We also made our survey on google form. We will be collecting data including Name, ID number, Gender, and who they believe committed the crime. We are going to start creating the Google slide for our presentation and try to make the crime as detailed as possible to hopefully throw off people's thinking making them forget we told them who committed the crime at the beginning of the presentation.

Day 8-
We started our movie for our presentation so it can be more professional and it is going to turn out really cool! We brainstormed the idea for the crime and we decided on the murder of a young millionaire outside her mansion.

Day 9-
We started working on our booth poster today! It is going to turn out pretty cool! We also continued working on our movie and putting together the components of the crime in the movie.

Day 10- We typed out all the information on our poster today and we are going to print it out and place it on our poster tomorrow! Our project is really coming together and we are getting super excited!

Day 11- We put all our information on our poster today! It looks super cool! We just have to fill the blank spaces with our pictures on Monday and that will also help us get our theme across that it is a mystery crime scene themed experiment.

Day 12- We had a snow day yesterday which gave us even more time to pick the perfect pictures for our poster! We glued them on in the best places. We finished up the last minute touches of our video and were excited about it for the parent night! The parent night went pretty good! Some people were interested in our topic because it is always interesting to follow a crime. We wished more people would have stopped by our table but our video was two-plus minutes which many thought it was too long to watch in full. Our results weren't coming in as we hoped and it ended the night with a fifty-fifty split between the result we wanted (them getting the answer to the question wrong) and the actual answer (getting it correct). We are hopeful that the experiment will support our hypothesis when we test students because we believe that students will pay less attention than parents.

Day 13- Today was the day of the psych fair! We were so excited! It was a long day, but we collected a lot of data. As we were testing our experiment we noticed that a lot of people thought our video was too long and would not pay attention and then would randomly answer our survey that was asking who the culprit was. We also anticipated more people to participate in our experiment from the get-go, I believe we estimated around 100 people in total but we only had around 60. It was also very loud around our booth which wasn't the best conditions for having a video that needed to be focused on that was so long because most people lost interest. The results we received from our test were about half and half after the day ended which made our test become inconclusive according to our hypothesis that people would not remember who was shown at the beginning of the video. We wished for better results but that is what an experiment is for! We believe if we executed this test differently we would have been able to prove our hypothesis.

Day 14- Today we looked back on our results from yesterday's testing and we are not upset with our results but we wish that it would have been supporting out hypothesis much more than it was. We believe that if we had better resources for the making of our video it would have been easier to get the results we wanted. We do not think it was a total fail though becuse the data was so close.
